Brunswick Riverside - A new Waterside Quarter
At the end of the academic year 2008/2009, Cambridge Regional College will be vacating the buildings on the Brunswick site and moving its teaching facilities to their new campus in summer 2009. The site has been identified for redevelopment for residential accommodation by Cambridge City Council (CCC) in their current Local Plan, and was acquired by award winning developers Berkeley Homes in January 2007.
Since then the adjacent Brunswick House site, 61-69 Newmarket Road, has also been acquired and added to the overall Masterplan Area in order to facilitate access directly from Newmarket Road.
The Berkeley Homes design team has been developing proposals for the site since December 2006 in discussions with the local authority, local residents and a comprehensive list of specialist groups.
Following withdrawal of a previous planning application in September 2008 (subsequent to the addition of the Brunswick House site) the design team has improved the overall proposals in direct response to local residents' concerns. This website details the revised proposals that were submitted to CCC on the 27th of February 2009.
